Tips for buying new irons?

I am going to pick up a set of TaylorMade R7 TP irons. I am wondering about shaft selection. I am 6 feet tall, what is the difference in sizes between Standard and Mens +1? What should I be looking for?

Also, I am not sure to go with stiff or extra stiff. I am fairly strong with a good swing speed. Which would you suggest for me?

I play weekly with friends often shooting low 80's if you feel that information should play into selections.

If you are dead set on the R7 TP's, I have to ask if they are the forged ones. If they are, then go for either the rifle 5.5 or 6.0 which are a strong stiff, or the Dynamic Gold S200's. Those seem to be the best two shafts for that set of irons. If you want graphite, which i dont recommend, you could go with the Rifle Project X 5.5. Also, I am 6'2" and I play with standard club lengths, but I do have them fitted to be a little upright. I would strongly suggest not to have your clubs extended because it will cause you to lose accuracy. If you really feel that you have to have it extended, then have them custom fitted as well. If you get your clubs custom fitted and the correct shafts for those irons, you should be able to break into the 70's fairly quickly.
